Vettel’s A Humble Guy, Really

Vettel

Despite his in-your-face, finger-wagging bravado. two-time F1 World Champrion Seb Vettel is really a humble guy. Just see these comments from long-time Formula One backmarker Pedro de la Rosa.

I felt admiration and even admit that it made the hair stand up on my neck. I felt admiration for his quality as a driver, his skill and his innate talent, often undervalued by us all. But what really moved me was to listen to him thank the person with whom he passes most time, Tommi Parmakoski, his personal trainer, his friend, his shadow both on and off the circuits, who, as Vettel himself said, truly helps him keep his feet on the ground. To admit that, after winning your second consecutive World Championship before millions of spectators, is a sign of humility, of maturity, of spectacular personal “hygiene”. We all expected him to thank his team, his sponsors and his family. We all expected him to make the usual superficial speech. But no, his gratitude went to the person who is the most anonymous and invisible to the majority of sports people when they have just won a trophy, the trainer who tells us the truth.
