Button: Skill Not Enough In Today’s F1

Defending World Champion Jenson Button may go into Sunday’s British GP at Silverstone as a favorite, but he has not forgotten the time when his life spent more time in the fast lane than his car.

It was only a few years ago when his image as a playboy outstripped his reputation as a racing driver, yet that has all changed and Button says his life is now all about winning. “I thought that driving skill would be enough in Formula One, but it wasn’t,” he recalls. “It was 2002 when I realised that I had to work hard, and it wasn’t just a walk in the park, that skill was not enough because everyone is skilled in Formula One — that’s why they’re here.”
