Vettel Wins GP At Home

Vettel—Germany 2013

Had it lasted a lap or two longer, the results of the German Grand Prix might have been completely different. As it was, a race that started by narrowly avoiding human disaster finished by a narrowly won first victory in his home race for the reigning, three-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel — by just 1.0s over Kimi Räikkönen in a Lotus. “Thank you, boys; that was a tough one,” Vettel shouted over the radio to his Red Bull team moments after the victory.

Romain Grosjean finished third in the other Lotus, with Fernando Alonso 4th for Ferrari. It was Vettel’s 30th career victory and his 4th of the season. “I’m very happy the race was 60 laps and not 61 or 62,” Vettel said.
