Mario Andretti, diving the Lotus 77, wins from pole in atrocious monsoon conditions at the 1976 Japanese GP, better known for James Hunt’s 3rd place — earning him the World Championship — and Niki Lauda’s courageous withdrawal. The win was Mario’s second GP victory five years after his first and the first victory for Team Lotus in more than two years.
