The youth movement in Formula One was kicked into overdrive this season with the arrival of another second-generation diver, Max Verstappen, who eclipsed the marks set by Sebastian Vettel in 2007 and Daniil Kvuyat in 2014 of being the youngest F1 driver to finish in the points, with an impressive seventh place.

Of course, when it rains small F! teams smell the blood that could be spilled by the works manufacturers and make it their mission to taste at least some of it before the checkered flag falls on qualifying. So while Max is quick, it’s not clear that Sepang is necessarily a sign of further immediate success this season. But that’s why they run the races.
