Lewis Hamilton won the Japanese Grand Prix to equal the late Ayrton Senna’s tally of 41 Formula One victories — one race later than Lewis had wanted — and move 48 points clear of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg with five GPs remaining.

In the end Hamilton’s advantage was 18.9 seconds over Rosberg, with Sebastian Vettel third and Kimi Raikkonen fourth. They were followed by Valtteri Bottas (Williams) and Nico Hulkenberg (Force India).
