Aussie Shunt

Martin Brundle’s terrifying crash in his Benson & Hedges Jordan on the 1st lap of the 1996 Australian Grand Prix in its Melbourne debut.  (Also check out video of this shunt.)

Brundle holds the dubious distinction of having the longest Formula One career (158 Grand Prix starts) without a race victory, pole position or fastest lap. Despite these statistics, he claimed nine podium finishes and was well regarded as an F1 driver, being considered by many as one of the top 10 drivers never to have won a race. He walked away from the accident in 1996!
